"It all started with a pair of pantyhose,some scissors and a bright idea." Sarah Blakely is an American billionaire businesswomen and founder of the company SPANX which supplies intimate clothing such as pants and leggings.Sarah started of as a highly annoyed customer into a fearless entrepreneur.
Sarah didn't start of that easy, she failed to pass her exam for becoming what she always wanted to, a lawyer. She ended up working for Walt Disney World, but didn't last there long so she started as a fax machine salesperson.
In 1998, she was working in sales, then an INCREDIBLE business idea hit her. She had a pair of white pants, but didn't know what undergarment would go with it. She created her own plan, Sarah explained,"I cut the feet off a pair of panty hose and it allowed me to wear a pair of great strappy sandals. I didn’t see lines but the hose rolled up at my feet.” She realizes that her footless pair of panty hose could make an AMAZING idea.
She took her idea to the public in the street with no money to advertise. Spanx proved to be an absolute success. It took her a long time to be where she is today, part of the 100 most influential person in the world. She was showcased on one of the most biggest television hits every,the Oprah Winfrey show!
To show how grateful she was for being where she is now, she started a Sarah Blakely foundation
In 2006 and a program in 2010. She was all for empowering women to reach there potential. When 2013 came, she agreed to give away half of her earnings to help empower women.
Sarah once said,"Breaking the mold is a good thing." Ladies, you don't need to think small to start big rather you need to think big to start small. Don't be afraid to have big dreams!!!
