" Be Kind To One Another" Emmy-award winning, loved by many, Ellen DeGeneres is one celebrity woman who has really shown what perseverance is about in life. She had a variety of jobs until she turned to stand-up comedy, making her money at small clubs and coffee shops before working all the way up to be the best. In the early 1980's she toured nationally and was named the funniest person in America, where she won many competitions which led to many other gigs. She made television history when she personally revealed she is lesbian. Following after this statement she was criticized by many and bashed with hurtful words. This did not stop Ellen, in 2001 she launched a new series, The Ellen Show, unfortunately it got poor ratings and was canceled. In 2003 the show redeemed itself because it proved to be both a critical hit and a commercial success.
